Artwork by Paolo Girardi I'm not suggesting you should ever judge a book by its cover, but if you didn't know a thing about Prosanctus Inferi, then a glimpse at the band's Bandcamp page is going to tell you ninety-nine percent of what need to know — without even hearing a note. Prosanctus Inferi's set out to make an abrasive, evil and barbaric album, all filled with grotesque amounts of desecration and destruction, and that's exactly what you get. The music reeks of that classic Death Metal quality we all love. Dark Blasphemies Records has put together a brilliant compilation of the band's entire demo material as well as released that underground album that before this hadn't seen the light of day.
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of experiencing the dark, mysterious ritual known as the Blood of the Wolf Fest. This festival was the brainchild of those Kentuckian warriors of chaos, Tombstalker. The band formed in 2006 and strived to merge the classic melodic metal sound with a taste of crushing technicality. Fans of acts like Antediluvian, Ignivomous, or any of Nuclear War Now! Note: All of the excellent photographs that appear here were taken by one AnnSydney Taylor. Still brutal, all-demolishing, miserable and even hymnic at times, every hope and expectation placed on their continuity, resolutely fulfilled. Amazing remaster that definitely exceeds the original! The Brotherhood was founded several years ago by Tombstalker and Dawn of Wolves now Valdrin , when they released their split Cemetery Wolven Ritual are you sensing a theme here? The drumming is perfect in every aspect. Classic Texas Death Metal band Embalmed present us with material from the early '90s to the unreleased album made under the name Blastwound by members of Embalmed.
Furthermore, the artwork for the band's latest album, Noctambulous Jaws Within Sempiternal Night, features a fantastically detailed and hellish landscape by Italian artist Paolo Girardi, along with an utterly incompressible logo. Add all that up, and it'll be no surprise to find that black arts and netherworld worship is indulged, and that the stench of Morbid Angel mixing with the reek of a slew of contemporary blackened death merchants is strong. In all, Noctambulous Jaws Within Sempiternal Night, is a half hour or so of ceaselessly ugly brutality, and much like a repetitive punch in the face, there's nothing remotely subtle about its intent. With wrath, perversion, and unpleasantness galore, Noctambulous Jaws Within Sempiternal Night is putrid and horrid, which is, of course, exactly why it's also so enjoyable. Its contents had also turned out to be to be a stronghold of murderous intentions and a true exhibition of muscle and character. The band sets themselves outside of the generic pack by mixing melodious, yet technical musicianship with virtuosic songwriting rarely seen in today's extreme metal acts. Those seeking wunderkind technical wizardry had best look elsewhere, but if you're after chaos, carnage, and grisly audio violence, then the yawning bloody maw of Noctambulous Jaws Within Sempiternal Night awaits.
Our long-standing supporter and guest writer Black Shuck turns in this report on the inaugural Blood of the Wolf Fest, which took place in Lexington, Kentucky, on Feb 22, 2014. If you want the in-stock items sooner, please order separately from the pre-order. But the promises you make to yourself are the easiest ones to break. Inferi is an American melodic death metal band forged from the bowels of Nashville, Tennessee. It remains the sound of an unfathomable starvation, claiming for lives to be taken away and and dark times to reign supreme. The bass is distinct and quite audible.
Firstly, you're going to discover that the Colombus, Ohio-based band is being released by harbinger of all things foul and ferocious, Nuclear War Now!. Favorite track: The Warrior's Infinite Opus. There's clarity and crispness in the production, particularly where wailing solos and ascents up the fret-board ring out like a '80s thrash tribute to the likes of early Slayer or Sodom — and that grants the album a certain depth and a tasty vintage tang. Australia has been delivering strikes of neat Metal at its more intense and chaotic for over three decades, and this trio from far down under sticks to the rules of their origin. Furthermore, Funerary Pit has never opted for the most uncontrolled edge and unsophisticated forms of expression of some of their compatriots, but instead display a more a sober and precise punch of death metal obscurantism, simultaneously draped in aggression and layers of taut moments. Just another day at the office for melo tech death masters Inferi! The festival poster and banner were designed by Lucas Ruggieri.
In saying that, Noctambulous Jaws Within Sempiternal Night isn't quite the bespattered album you'd presume. You need their entire discography in your life! The Brotherhood has now expanded to include many other bands from across the country. Anyways, on with the fest. Noctambulous Jaws Within Sempiternal Night isn't any different. Posted by at 3:30 am Tagged with: , ,. If you want the in-stock items sooner, please order separately from the pre-order. This is crunchy, brutal Death Metal with a penchant for catchy hooks and guttural Texas-style mayhem.
The guitar solos are legendary and very memorable. All photos are by AnnSydney Taylor. Presumably their collective subject material has also expanded to cover things that are not wolves, although I hold out hope that I will have a place there once my one-man black metal band, Death to the Three Little Pigs, gets off the ground. For any reader who had heard about it, take your scrying pool and begone, wizard. That said, although there's nothing surprising per se about Noctambulous Jaws Within Sempiternal Night, that isn't to say that Prosanctus Inferi doesn't dispense some gloriously nasty and nightmarish black and death metal. The rules you set for yourself are the easiest ones to break, too. .
