How does this book not have well over 4 stars, and how has it taken me so long to read it? He returned to Tibet through forged documents, and if Chinese officer Captain Shek patrolling the area finds him, he will be taken away and arrested. Well written, well packaged, well shipped. Portrayed in the novel are the physical and emotional challenges that face a fourteen-year-old as he climbs as well as tall buildings in New York City after moving from Wyoming. The things that really matter lie far below. Unfortunately, his last illegal climb of a skyscraper hands him a harsh sentence from a judge who is trying to make an example of him. My son had to write a short paper over the summer for the first day of school, and thoroughly enjoyed this book. I would be falling apart.

I loved accompanying Peak through his doubts and through his suspicions of everyone's motivations. Everest is on the internet, every kid who reads this is going to be searching the internet for pictures of dead bodies, trash, base camps, and the summit. As owner of Peak Expeditions, he wants his son to be the youngest person to reach the Everest summit—and his motives are selfish at best. Peak is a teenager in New York City who is a born mountain climber. In the beginning, fourteen year old Peak Marcello winds up getting arrested for illegally climbing skyscrapers in New York City.
